SUSPEND DISBELIEF

I’ve been on the teeter totter of faith vs disbelief.  It’s a place where I believe and I hope, but the disbelieving voice sarcastically shows up with “What if’s?”  Disbelief exaggerates life and taunts faith.  “Are you really believing for that?” ”Is that in God’s will? Aren’t you being selfish–greedy, etc?”  The accusations and questions are crippling to faith.

Disbelief reasons with the mind, plays with the emotions, and questions your God-given will.  Disbelief’s job is to be in direct contradiction of faith.  But here is good news.  It is actually part of the process.  Like lifting weights, you need the resistance to build the muscle of faith.  When faith is ’exercised’ it resists disbelief.  But be prepared, because disbelief will MOMENTARILY tear down faith.  But once faith is torn down, it repairs itself with the promises of God and pushes disbelief back up into the air, suspending it longer each time.

We exercise suspending reality when we watch fantasy movies.  Use that same principle to throw disbelief to the wind; suspend it, put it on vacation– even for a few hours and watch your faith rise with action.  Entertain the possibilities of fulfilling all of your dreams.  Suspend moments of failure, suspend the what if’s.  It is a point of decision to walk by faith and act as if you won’t lose no matter what.  Refuse to buckle under doubt  and your faith will get stronger.  Strong faith brings focus and will have you acting on your dreams daily.  Try it with an attainable desire as an exercise.  Then purposely challenge your faith to believe for greater things.  Faith shouldn’t be mysterious or ambiguous.  Set your mind and heart today on a pure desire, suspend disbelief and your desires emerge.
